Pharmacist-led research grants

Pharmacists play a vital role in renal research, offering valuable clinical insight and practical expertise that help to drive progress and improve outcomes for patients.

In partnership with Pharmacy Research UK, the UK Kidney Association's Renal Pharmacy Group, the Paediatric Medicines Research Unit, Kidney Research Yorkshire, Alder Hey Children's Hospital, and the Thompson Family Trust, we are providing dedicated funding to ensure renal pharmacists play a key role in shaping the future of kidney care.

This initiative is now in its second year, building on the success of 2024 to further strengthen the capacity for renal pharmacy-led research across the UK.

With our new strategic focus, we particularly welcome applications that explore the link between kidney disease and cancer.

The program is open to all UK-based pharmacists working in renal medicine.

Supporting the crucial role of pharmacists in renal research

We are committed to increasing the number of pharmacists contributing to research in kidney disease by:

  • Offering research awards tailored to renal pharmacists at different stages of their research career, including both career development and project grants
  • Signposting support for those not yet ready to apply for research funding but who may be considering it in the future.

For pharmacists at an earlier stage who would like to build their confidence and skills, mentorship, guidance and networking opportunities are available through:

Pharmacy Research UK: email office@pharmresuk.org.uk

British Oncology Pharmacy Association: email p.chambers@ucl.ac.uk

We are seeking applications that align with our research priorities:
