{"id":90561,"date":"2022-05-26T13:46:18","date_gmt":"2022-05-26T12:46:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.kidneyresearchuk.org\/?p=90561"},"modified":"2022-10-05T14:50:15","modified_gmt":"2022-10-05T13:50:15","slug":"opening-new-opportunities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.kidneyresearchuk.org\/2022\/05\/26\/opening-new-opportunities\/","title":{"rendered":"Opening new opportunities"},"content":{"rendered":"\r\n<p>With more than 60 delegates and 30 companies in the room, Kidney Research UK&#8217;s Industry Day 2022 opened new opportunities for collaboration in our ambitious plans to drive a step change in defeating kidney disease.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>Our aim is to work with partners to deliver our research priorities to prevent kidney disease, end kidney failure and transform treatments.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>By bringing together industry contacts across biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and medical technologies and utilising their networks we are increasing our community and ensuring there are more people involved in the fight against kidney disease.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload\" title=\"Industry-Day-2022\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.kidneyresearchuk.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Industry-Day-2022.jpg\" alt=\"Delegates at Industry Day\" width=\"1500\" height=\"1002\" \/><noscript><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"lazyload\" title=\"Industry-Day-2022\" src=\"https:\/\/www.kidneyresearchuk.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/Industry-Day-2022.jpg\" alt=\"Delegates at Industry Day\" width=\"1500\" height=\"1002\" \/><\/noscript> Delegates at Industry Day<\/p>\r\n<p>Delegates were welcomed by our chief executive Sandra Currie before the reality of kidney disease and the scale of the problem was shared by Dr Andrew Lewington from St James&#8217;s University Hospital.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>Staff presentations helped spell out the scope of the issue with public and patient involvement manager Mae Smith, director of development Michael Nation, health equalities programme manager Neerja Jain, head of policy and external affairs Alison Railton shared their expertise and executive director of development Marc Stowell all presenting.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>Network sessions in between presentations gave delegates a chance to meet new contacts and continue conversations.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p><strong>Billy Cole, Life sciences partnership manger said:<\/strong> &#8220;We were so delighted to be able to bring so many people with an interest in kidney disease together to make a shared commitment to speed up the process of finding better treatments and cures. We can&#8217;t do this on our own &#8211; collaboration is key. By working together with brilliant industry minds more progress will be made faster.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n<p>&#8220;We are now looking forward to following up on the conversations we had and developing more
