At Kidney Research UK we are determined to make research happen faster and make it count\u00a0for patients\u00a0sooner.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

Although we are the\u00a0largest charity dedicated to funding kidney research in the UK, if we are going to end kidney disease, we need to do more to drive discoveries\u00a0and make sure advances in research rapidly make a difference to people with or at risk of kidney disease.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

To this end, we are\u00a0starting to think\u00a0differently\u00a0and are\u00a0exploring and developing different funding opportunities for researchers and scientists\u00a0in addition to our traditional\u00a0grants\u00a0rounds.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

Intellectual property and commercialisation\u00a0<\/h2>\r\n

As part of our alternative funding\u00a0strategy, we are aiming to help researchers\u00a0explore the opportunities around\u00a0two key areas – intellectual property and commercialisation.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

Intellectual property refers to\u00a0an idea or invention. It is\u00a0where\u00a0researchers own or legally protect their intellectual property to prevent other people from using it without consent or exploiting it.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

Commercialisation is the process of bringing new products or services to market. This is a very important step if we want to see more research being translated to the clinic. Commercialisation involves production, distribution, marketing, sales, and customer support which are critical to achieving commercial success with a new product.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n

Our current partnerships<\/h2>\r\n

We are\u00a0exploring a range of alternative funding opportunities\u00a0to generate more investment, accelerate breakthroughs in kidney research and quickly translate them into life-changing advances.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\r\n
